Excursion Jazz

The music of Excursion is a spicy blend of ethnic styles and progressive jazz. The band fuses Middle Eastern modalities with jazz harmony and Latin rhythm to create a sound that is truly unique. Their instrumentation is also a culmination of cultures. Along with the typical instruments of a jazz ensemble, they incorporate Latin and Middle Eastern percussion, bouzouki, oud, and other traditional instruments. The group features Greek composer-pianist Peter Deneff and Armenian bassist Vik Momjian.
